The house enjoys a breathtaking view of a basin overlooking the Libyan side of the island. However, this is not a beach house but rather a mountain home with the characteristic terraced structure which, in compliance with basic local construction practices, does not exceed the height of one and a half stories above the slope contour.
The building was completely reconstructed by local craftsmen starting with the old farmhouse and using traditional building styles, materials, finishes, and colours. The thick and irregular layer of plaster that covers some walls was mixed with local sand to achieve the characteristic cream colour while the original stone walls were preserved and their value enhanced by leaving them exposed.
La casa gode di un panorama mozzafiato su una conca affacciata sul versante libico dell’isola. Non è una casa di mare ma di montagna con la caratteristica struttura a gradoni che, nel rispetto delle semplici regole costruttive locali, non supera l'altezza di 1 piano e mezzo sul profilo del declivio.
L'edificio è stato completamente ricostruito a partire da un vecchio rudere utilizzando maestranze locali tenendo conto delle tipologie edilizie, materiali, finiture e colori della tradizione. Lo spesso e irregolare strato di intonaco che ricopre alcune pareti è a base di sabbia locale dal caratteristico color creta mentre le originarie murature in pietrame sono state conservate e valorizzate lasciandole a vista.
